Polymer Clay Beginners Workshop May 22,2010

Saturday; May 22, 2010 from 10A-4P

Location: Lexington Arts and Crafts Society (LACS) Seminar Room; 130 Waltham St, Lexington, MA 02421

Fee: $65. LACS Members/ non-members $80.

Class Size: 2 to 10 students

*Techniques to be determined as requested. All levels welcome to experiment with prepared canes. Students will leave with a finished pin, earrings, or beads.

BASICS COVERED:

conditioning

forming canes/loaves

reducing/ slicing

baking/ finishing

storing

PROJECTS:

custom needle tool

pin or pendant

earring components

beads/ canes

Materials list: 2 oz. packages of Polymer clay should be of the same brand (Sculpey III, Fimo soft, or Premo). 1 pkg Black , 2 pkg white, 2 pkg light colors, 2 pkg dark colors, clear plastic wrap, ruler, paper towels, index cards, storage bin for finished canes optional

Available from PC Guild: tissue blade, work surface, clear acrylic roller, needle tool, pasta machine, card stock for baking, skewer.

Optional Finishing kit: ($5.) pin-back, wet/dry sandpapers, skewer, needle tool.

Clay available at workshop for purchase at reduced cost.

Students can bring (or purchase nearby) lunch, beverage and a snack. We will discuss progress over lunchtime and take time at the end of class to review, evaluate and share.

Looking for a Polymer Clay Workshop? Register for my Beginners Workshop at the Lexington Arts & Crafts Society on Saturday; May 22, 2010. Hours: 10A-4P. You will learn Basic Techniques and Canes. Returning students can advance their usage of canes in sheets for applying to surfaces. Contact LACS for specifics, or pick up a signup sheet at my studio sale. Look for the various techniques within my pieces to see what you can learn at the workshop.
