Polymer Clay Fantastic Scraps Workshop


Workshop Date:  Saturday, October 1, 2011  10AM-4PM

Class Size2 to 10 students 
Skill Level: Beginner to Advanced
Scraps of polymer clay can be wonderful for creating fantastic canes and projects. Bring your canes and scraps to finish projects and learn new techniques.


CHOICE OF TECHNIQUES:
Scrappy Swirls
Scrap Feather Cane
Scrapscape
Janus Beads
PROJECTS:
earrings
pin or pendant
beads/ canes
bowl/ covered tin or glass

Materials list: 2 oz. packages of Polymer clay for bead or sheet base, scrap clay , clear plastic wrap, ruler, paper towels, storage bin for finished canes optional. Metallic and pearlized clay is a fun addition. Cane work from previous sessions
Tools: tissue blade, work surface, clear acrylic roller, needle tool, pasta machine, card stock for baking, skewer, pencil, ruler, small tile.
Optional Finishing kit: ($5.) pin-back, wet/dry sandpapers, skewer, needle tool. Clay available at workshop for purchase at reduced cost.
Students can bring lunch, beverage and a snack (30 minute lunch break). Techniques covered will progress determined by student interest. At the end of class we will review, evaluate and share. Finished pieces can be baked during class. Students will make a variety of canes for future projects.

Polymer Clay: Bargello Technique Workshop 2

Students will learn the technique and form sheets that can be used for projects. Bring conditioned clay in plastic wrap plus unfinished projects. Techniques are driven by student request.
Materials list: 2 oz. packages of Polymer clay (preferably Premo or Kato). Black; plus 2 pkg light colors, 2 pkg dark colors, liquid Polymer Clay, Pasta Machine, tissue blade, clear plastic wrap, ruler, paper towels, index cards, storage container, original canes to decorate.

Available at Workshop: tissue blade, work surface, clear acrylic roller, needle tool, clay tools, Texture plates, card stock, skewer, Baking Soda filled Tin and tiles for baking.

Polymer Clay: Mica Shift 2/Bracelet & Beads Workshop

Workshop Date:  Saturday, May 7, 2011  10AM-4PM

Class Size: Maximum 6 students 
Skill Level: Beginner to Advanced

Students will complete bracelet projects with beads and continue to explore Mica Shift techniques using the properties of metallic clay, pearlized clay, and powders. Bring conditioned clay in plastic wrap plus scrap clay for base beads. Techniques are driven by student request. Bring Texture tools and sheets plus a flexible blade for slicing.

PROJECTS TO CREATE:
Split Bangle with elastic
Reversible Tiles/ double elastic channel
Cuff with clasp / enclosed aluminum wire
Sheets for decorating vessels
Mica shift Beads

TECHNIQUES COVERED:
Forming a center channel from a tube
Maintaining clear, well-formed slices
Using waste clay for a base
Creating even sized tile channels
Making clean bead holes

Materials list: 2 oz. packages of Polymer clay (preferably Premo or Kato). 2-3 pkg each of metallic or pearlized clay—Premo Gold works best, Black; plus 2 pkg light colors, 2 pkg dark colors, liquid Polymer Clay, Pasta Machine, tissue blade, elastic cording, metal cuff, firm cardboard tube, clear plastic wrap, ruler, paper towels, index cards, storage container, original canes to decorate.

Polymer Clay: Translucent Overlay Bead Workshop

Students will learn about various techniques for creating Kato-style Beads. Bring conditioned clay in plastic wrap plus scrap clay for base beads. Techniques are driven by student request.



CANES TO CREATE:
Translucent dot block
White/trans jellyroll
Striped, Checkered
Mokume gane block


TECHNIQUES COVERED:
Reducing canes with less waste
Maintaining clear, well-formed slices
Using a waste clay base for cutting shaped canes
Creating even sized or graduated bead sets
Baking of large beads without slumping
Making clean bead holes


Materials list: 2 oz. packages of Polymer clay preferably Premo or Kato). 2-3 pkg Translucent , 2-3 pkg white, 2 pkg light colors, 2 pkg dark colors, liquid Polymer Clay, Pasta Machine, cording or leather, clear plastic wrap, ruler, paper towels, index cards, storage container. Thin acrylic roller

Available at Workshop: tissue blade, ripple blade, work surface, clear acrylic roller, needle tool, clay tools, Texture plates, card stock and tiles for baking, skewer, Baking Soda filled Tin for baking.
Optional Finishing kit: ($5.) pin-back, multiple wet/dry sandpapers, skewer, poultry pin.
Premo Clay available at workshop for purchase. Bring small tins, glass, and used bulbs for covering.
