Boxes Workshop results

Here are some of the results from the Sunday workshop. With the pre-workshop claying session on Saturday, most of the boxes were completed and baked by the end of the day. What a fun day!  Jacki

Fee to support Polymer Clay Guild: $15.   Guild Members: free
Location: LACS Metalworker's Room; 130 Waltham St; Lexington, MA

The Polymer Clay Guild will be demoing one technique to decorate a sheet of clay using a clay extruder. You can join in and use a guild workshop pasta machine and tool kit.  If you decide to work on another technique, bring clay, prepared canes, metallic foil, etc plus your personal tools. Packages of Premo Clay will be available for purchase. Jacki will bring extra extruders to borrow, plus some instruction sheets on a few sheeting techniques.

Bring your clay to condition and prepare the decorative layer for your box. This will give more time during the workshop on Sunday to form the box and add features like footings and handles.

Beginner to Advanced
Minimum 5 students, maximum 10 students

Students will learn to use slab-building techniques to create freeform, layered boxes.  We will address problems like slumping of walls, texturing, pre-baked segments, fitting lids, handles, and footings.  Students can also bring canes and texture plates for embellishing surface.  Techniques to form sheets of clay will be taught:  texturing, scrapscape, color blocking.

Materials list provided with registration.

Society Members, $60.  Non-Members, $75.

 The Lexington Arts and Crafts Society presents a combined exhibit of the Painters Guild Annual Show and the Polymer Clay Annual Show called "Another Brush with Polymer Clay."

 The exhibit will include a collaboration of Polymer Clay pieces and Paintings some of which were inspired by and created to complement each other's work with which they will be displayed.
