POLYMER CLAY EXTRUDED TECHNIQUES WORKSHOP

Fee includes $15 for materials provided by instructor.
Maximum: 10 students

Students will learn various techniques using extruded coils. Elements will be created for jewelry and sheets made to decorate and cover small tins or bulbs. Pieces will be baked and sanded to reveal layers. Tools discussed: clays guns, screw-type clay gun, garlic press – heavy duty and adapting a caulking gun. Techniques covered: coiling/spirals, Quilt Design Canes, Reto Blend Cane/Puff bead and Braiding/Links.
Available at Workshop: tissue blade, work surface, needle tool, clear acrylic roller, card stock and tiles for baking, skewers. Optional Finishing kit: ($5) pin-back, multiple wet/dry sandpapers, skewer, needle tool. Clay available at workshop for purchase at minimal cost. Tins and used bulbs will be available for covering.
Materials list: 2 oz pkgs of Polymer clay (Premo, Fimo soft, Kato). 2 pkg Black, 2 pkg White, 2 pkg Light colors, 2 pkg Dark colors, liquid Polymer Clay, Pasta Machine, Clay gun (screw-type available thru Polymer Clay Express, small tin, bowl or bulb to cover, jewelry wire and tools, cording or leather, clear plastic wrap, ruler, paper towels, index cards, storage container.

Students can bring their own equipment, lunch, beverage and a snack. We will discuss progress over lunchtime and take time at the end of class to review, evaluate and share.

Decorating with Polymer Clay - Half-day workshop

Adult Course taught by Jacki Katz


This workshop will cover basic polymer techniques by making simple canes used to decorate beads and sheets of clay for jewelry and for decorating surfaces. Learn everything from conditioning and forming canes to baking and finishing your pieces. All skill levels are welcome.
